Cove-lighting placement: avoiding shadows and hot spots

A pleasing ceiling glow begins with the relationship between the LED, the moulding and the room.

Test the arrangement before finishing

In the illustrated flat-wall arrangement, the LED faces upward from a separate horizontal shelf, set away from the wall. Check a short mock-up from normal seated and standing positions. Shadows, visible points of light and bright patches can come from placement, corners or the surface finish.

Match the section to the profile

LC-02–LC-06 use the flat-wall arrangement; LC-01 and LC-07 need a horizontal outside bulkhead corner. Do not apply one clearance or mounting detail to every profile. Confirm the current section, the chosen lighting system and the actual ceiling before installation.
